BEAsTMASTER Vol.4: Sadik's Boutique

For The Love

About 10 yrs ago I had my first taste of earning money from beat-making. From that point, on some sort of sub-conscious level, began to make that my first priority for making beats. The consequence of that action was I started to hate music, beat-making, producing and everything. My creativity became stagnant. I became very frustrated with the music and the music business. Then one day I was playing beats in the car and my son, Elijah, was riding with me. After about 3 or 4 tracks I switched to the radio and Elijah got real upset saying "Daddy, I wanna hear your song"!!! I can't explain how that made me feel. It made me tear up. From that day, he became my biggest fan. When he's listening to my iPod, he's listening to my beats. Anytime we're in the car the first thing he says, "Daddy, can I hear your song?" or "Daddy play that beat that goes like..."(he proceeds to make the music with his mouth) There's 2 things I learned from the passing of J Dilla(R.I.P.), one of my greatest inspirations: 1.)love what u do and do what u love and make doing it for the love ur first prority 2.)do what the fuck u wanna do...period!! STAY OUT OF THOSE BOXES!!! If there's just one person who really digs my beats, I'll continue to make beats for that person. LOVE FIRST!!!...everything else is gravy.
